Oppose Government Healthcare

There is one good reason that politicians are scumbags.  They were voted in to office (usually) by the people they are supposed to represent, and in order to keep their jobs, they are supposed to properly represent the people that support them.  This crap about the government-run healthcare system is one shining example of how they are failing.

I have actually looked online to try to find examples of why we should support this initiative, but other than news stories about why Obama says it’s a “good thing” I can’t find much.  Now try looking online to find examples of why we should NOT support this, and you will become overwhelmed with reasons.

So many people oppose this in so many different ways, I can’t believe that our government is still trying to force this down our throats.  Listen to the voice of the people, you idiots!  Stop trying to tell us how much we want it and how good it is for us.  We are telling you we don’t want it.  We are saying to stop this.  Even entire states are voting in new refferendums in order to give whole states the right to deny this federal program.   You can look to see if your state has taken any steps to enforce the 10th Amendment and stay a sovereign state.

LISTEN UP ALREADY!  Stop this.  I know you will never listen to me, a peon, a normal US citizen, but STOP.  In case you couldn’t tell already, the majority of the country does not want this horrible “healthcare” system you are proposing.  We don’t want it.  Hint hint – we don’t want it.   It doesn’t make it any better when you are berate people for speaking out in a Town Hall meeting; this is just “this short” of violating our first amendment rights.

So far, the only people that I have seen that are in favor of this new system are illegal aliens.  You know, the ones that are already getting free healthcare.  Well, it’s free for them, my insurance payments and taxes cover their bill.  It’s not really a change for them.

This is one big reason that politicians have such a bad name.  Too many say they support the people that vote them in to office.  But then they turn a blind eye towards our actual wishes.  Too many bow down to our Socialist president and blindly follow whatever he tells them to.  Too few actually have the cajones to stand up and say “NO, that’s not what my people want!”

To those few politicans who have values, and some type of a moral compass, I applaud you.  THANK YOU!  Thank you for doing your job.

Should Texas Secede?

In the last few months there has been more of a focus on the State (Republic?) of Texas seceding from the US of A. There have always been people trying to get the state to get out, but it’s once again come to the forefront.

I’ve heard a number of reasons why they should (TexasSecede.com) and why they shouldn’t (HuffingtonPost.com).  But the one thing that I have not heard is what I consider to be honest opinions of the citizens of Texas.  Yes, I have read many posts tacked on to the end of the news pages, and several people’s blog entries.  However they all seem to be a 50/50 mix.  And the people that say Texas should stay as part of the USA, say it’s because they don’t want to change the status-quo, and because they don’t want to raise a ruckus.

For the record, I don’t live in Texas and I never have.  I have visited briefly, and have a few friends that live there, but I have not talked to them about this yet.  As a citizen, and as a veteran, I wholly stand behind the right of the people to leave if they want.  If this includes taking the whole state with them into a new Republic, so be it.

How DARE the existing government in place think they have the right to force the state to stay a member of the union.  Our country was founded because many people wanted to leave behind an over-bearing government.  They wanted to live their own lives, and not be hounded by the overbearing beaurocrats.  They wanted a free land.  They wanted a SMALL government.  Our country started out the way most citizens wanted it.  Unfortunately, the nature of politics means it is run by politicians, and these politicians are the primary reason our country has become the place it is now.  Don’t get me wrong, our country is great, but it leaves a lot to be desired.

Look at our government now.  Huge, wasteful, bloated, and over-bearing.  The Texans who want their state to secede want to get away from what our government has turned into. People have become too laid-back and no longer fight for their rights.  It’s apparently too hard to demand freedom, it’s just easier to lay back and let the government steal your rights, privacy and freedoms.

One thing that would happen if Texas tried to secede is that there would be a war.  The rest of the US would perceive the secession as a threat to it’s nation, and would do everything in it’s power to keep that land.  Look at this again.  If an existing state, internal to the country, decided it has had enough, and wanted to get out, the US would act as if this was a threat coming for a foreign nation.  So this effectively says that the President of the US will order the execution of everyone in the state, just to keep the land.  What country is this?  The USA or the USSA USSR?  We have the freedom, as citizens, to leave the US and live in another country.  But only our bodies and personal belongings – The thought of a whole state leaving is too much to bear?  That’s not freedom, that sounds like a type of slavery to me.

Maybe our government should take a look at this situation.  If people really want their state to secede, maybe they have a good reason.  Texas isn’t the only state – Vermont and South Carolina have also made waves regarding secession.  Maybe the local and national government should look at why they want this.  These citizens are the ones that the governemt is supposed to be representing, and the ones they are supposed to be working for.  Remember?  They work for us , not the other way around.  Instead of planning the destruction of revolutionaries, maybe they should fix their own problems – the ones that are causing people to want to leave.

The Year 2076

I just finished reading an interesting story today.  Go check out http://www.2076book.com/ to get your free copy and read it yourself.  It’s a little over 200 pages, but it’s a fairly fast read as the sentences are small in both length and content.  There are a few more obvious errors than you would expect from a print edition from a well-known publishing house, but that’s OK, it’s easy to overlook.  Don’t let the seemingly simplistic writing structure fool you though, there is some deep thought-provoking ideas in play.  It may be that the author (Robert VanDyke) is trying to come up with his own version of the (in)famous 1984 Orwell classic.  While a little rough around the edges, 2076 is bound to make you think twice about some of the things you see in your everyday life today.  Is this where it’s really leading?

The plot is regarding life in the times of 2076, and it follows some interesting possibilities in technology and politics that are in place now.  Huge apartment towers where you literally never have to go outside?  Yup.  An access card that is your “universal” ID card?  Yup.  Everything automated?  Yup.  Privacy? None.  A political system that cares little for your existance? Essentially.  Total control by the faceless government, backed by muscled goons of it’s private enforcement teams?  Got that too.

Influences appear to be the current state of affairs in the early years of the 2000s, this book expands on the possibilities of where this could end up.  We have politicians pushing to have everything done “for our own good,” plus our increased reliance on computer and robotic automation, plus a focus on removing any type of weapon, while forcing non-stop survielance.  Does this really lead to a safer place for us to live?  Not really.  The bad guys still have guns, and the cameras only catch crimes after they happen

Does the reality of today lead up to the reality of the book 2076?  Hard to say, but it sure has an eerie way of making it sound likely.  We sure could be heading in that direction.  The good part is that the main characters in this book are fed up with their society, and they want to make a change.  They want some of America’s freedoms back.  They are a small outlaw band, but they make the people in charge take notice of them.  Is this a 1984 sequel, or is this a call to arms?  Should we already have noticed 1984 and just need a wake-up call?

Read the book.  Think about the politics.  Think about the struggle.  Think about how the technologies and politics of today really can make this society happen.  Should we let this happen?  Should we fight back now while it’s a lot easier to control?

Medical Marijuana

The use of medical marijuana is a big help to many people suffering from a myriad of illnesses. It’s almost the perfect drug for some of them. Why should so many people spend three weeks worth of income on month’s worth of medicine? It’s cheap, it definitely helps ease their pains, helps (re)gain an appetite, and is widely available.

So what’s the problem?  The feds and local cops  have a bug up their butt about not allowing any time of marijuana at any time for any one.  If anything, it’s the least dangerous drug.

Sometimes, it’s all the medicine that some people need to get by.  They don’t need some massively expensive pill or weird ’supplement’ that doesn’t always work.  It’s a natural medicine.   It’s not 100% good for you, but it’s usually better than some concoction pill with manufactured chemicals with an almost unknown reaction, and odd conflicts with other medicines.  It’s just leaves that are dried out, separated, and smoked.

Too many whiney people think that a bit of pot is going to ruin the world.  No, it’s not going to make my 90-year old cancer-ridden gramma go rob banks, or  make my 50-year old friend with MS turn to a life of crime to support her habit.  It’s used as a medicine.  It’s to control pain and make sure they can eat half-way normally.  It’s to help ease suffering caused by an illness.  Many times, it’s used to address a problem that existing medication doesn’t affect.

How about a little decency.  Let these people use the medicine that works for them.  This isn’t about any war on drugs, this is more about a political agenda.  It’s someone’s personal vendetta.  Get off your media buzz, and let these sick people take care of themselves in their own way…

Forced Medical Care – Riley Rogers

Riley Rogers is a 9-month old that has a kidney problem. Doctors said that emergency surgery is desperately needed, and he could die if he doesn’t get it soon. The mother disagreed, so she had to kidnap her own son in order to get him out of the hospital – she apparently wanted to use a method that was much less intrusive. So she sneaks her baby out of the hospital and an Amber Alert is sounded to track them down. They are found, and the mother is sent to jail. The baby is sent back to the hospital.

Well, as it turns out, the hospital was stretching the truth a bit. With his kidney problem, he could get very sick with no warning, so they wanted to perform surgery to try to fix the issue.  So what was this big huge surgery?  It was to insert a catheter to allow for dialysis. The mom wanted to try natural methods instead of him going under the knife – but both the hospital and state DSHS insisted that he be hospitalized.

What kind of BS is this? Isn’t it bad enough that the FCC does the parenting for us by sensoring the TV channels and radio airwaves; that the school board has taken on several daily meals, before and after school babysitting, sex education, driver’s education, etc; that the FDA allows drugs to smooth out obnoxious kids; etc, etc, etc. Now, here’s one more government entity working with a commercial giant (healthcare) to make sure the parents are taken out of the parenting roles. Many moons ago, it used to be that parents could take care of a sick kid, and consulted with the doctor when it got out of hand. Now, the state allows the hospital to initiate a state-wide emergency alert because a “mother’s instinct” had her dare to think for herself.

I’ve heard (seen, read, whatever) it suggested that there needs to be a lot more disclosure as to what’s really going on. The doctors, the hospital, the police, DSHS officials, and the family all need to work together to disclose a little more detail as to what’s happening with this. After an Amber Alert, after lots of media attention, after an arrest, after the mom spending 5 days in jail, after listing a $500k bond, after barring the mother from seeing her infant son after her release, and after the hospital/doctors saying that the health issue was really more of “it could happen sometime” instead of inferring the kid will die withing hours, there really needs to be a bit more information.  We’ve been told all these bad things, now how about a little more truth as to what’s really going on?  Quit leading us on and tell us already!

How is it that the state can forcibly remove the parent(s) from the role of deciding what happens to the children?  Yes, maybe the child could die as a result of the mother’s decision.  Yes, maybe nothing could have happened.  Yes, maybe the child would have been better off going with natural remedies.  No one really knows.  I think it’s just horrible that the parents’ jobs are being dictated to them by the state.  Get the <bleep> out of our lives and let us live our way.  The doctors don’t always know best…

For more information on Baby Riley, see his page here.  For more news on him, please see Komo TV’s site and the Seattle PI also has several pages on it.
