Too Fat To Die?

Did you hear about the guy in Ohio that argued that he was too fat to be executed?  You have GOT to be kidding me!  I totally understand that this guy just wanted to save / prolong his own life, but this is the best he could come up with?  Really?

Maybe I’m just (waaaaay) to old fashioned, but I think there is no real good reason why he should be allowed to live.  He killed two college students over 20 years ago.  Why was he allowed to be alive for as long as he was?  I think that in cases where there is NO possible chance of the guilty verdict being wrong, that the accused should be put to death in less than one year, if not immediately.

Think about that…  How much money would we save by not housing them for a few decades?  Prison spaces is at a premium.  Prisoners are expensive.  How much of a detriment would this be to others that have a chance at going to the pen?

Also, what kind of society is this, where the criminal that is being executed has so many rights?  Many times, these people have killed, tortured, raped, etc.  Most times, these killings are NOT painless.  So why is it that these criminals get to be assured of a completely painless death?

Why don’t we bring back a firing squad?  How about the gallows?  Why not a guillotine?  Why not a simple bullet to the back of the head?  No more worries about being too fat for a doctor to find a vein to insert pain meds before a cocktail puts them to sleep gently.  No more worries about a minor discomfort before their soul falls into hell.  After the pain they have caused others, why should they be assured a painless sendoff?

Don’t Do It

Just because you can do something, does not mean that it needs to be done.

Just because you have the technology to do something, does not mean you should be doing it.

Before you do something that effects other people, think it through.  Does it really need to be done?  Are the people around you going to object in some way?  Does the fact that you are doing something actually have some value to others?  Would you, or others, really gaining anything by you doing this?

Yes, I’m being vague.  This applies to using your walkie-talkie cell phone (just CALL them already – no one wants to share your conversation).  This applies to your speakerphone (see previous – and take it off speaker, we don’t wanna share).  This is for that webcam in the conference room (it’s bad enough I have to talk to you, there is no way I want to see you too!).  This is for driving your car with only your fog lights on (yes, you look retarded – put the headlights all the way on, or all the way off).

Before you do something, make sure there is an actual good reason to do so – don’t do it just because you can.
