Illegal Immigrants Suck

April 28, 2006 at 10:32 am 43 comments

With all the furor over the US government’s sudden attention on illegal immigrants, we’ve now been threatened with them closing down our cities. According to a Reuters news story on Yahoo (among many others), the organizer of a rally in California claims that illegal immigrants should walk out of school, out of work, and onto the streets to show their support. These rallies are supposed to hit many of the big cities in the US, and are supposed to make the operations of those cities grind to a halt.

Do the rally organizers think that business and schools should not take notice? Should the people who walk off the job to go to one of these marches have no retaliation? Many supporters are saying that the illegal immigrants should be granted a full pardon. That they should suffer NO consequences for their illegal acts. That they should just be blessed with full citizenship, open arms, and a big huge “SORRY” message for being treated like criminals or trespassers. Ummm, don’t they realize that the illegal aliens are, in fact, guilty of trespassing and committing a crime?  Doesn’t the name “illigal aliens” give it away a tiny bit?  Those people who leave work or school should be penalized the same way anyone else would.  Don’t allow them extra leeway because they are out “supporting their rights” – they are illegals, they don’t have the same rights citizens do.  Do they really need more rights just because they’re already illegally here?

This really pisses me off. Get a clue people!!!!! This is not your country, you don’t get all the privileges and rights given to the citizens of a country just because you live here? Unless you’re going to follow the rules that are already in place, you have NO RIGHT to demand special treatment. There are rules in place for immigrating here. USE THEM! Everyone else has to follow them, what makes you think you are so special? What makes you think that because you’ve evaded deportation for this long, that you have the right to demand we let you stay and become legal citizens?

From what I understand, most illegal immigrants in the US have come here from Mexico. They come in via several methods – to include walking across the border, being smuggled in vehicles, going through tunnels, etc. They come here because their life in their native country isn’t as nice as they would like it to be, and they want to come to the US for money and the jobs. Guess what – there are a LOT of people who do that, and they aren’t all from Latin America. People come here legally from all over the world! Maybe you’ve heard of those places – like India, Japan, China, Russia, etc. That’s great! That’s the way our great country got most of it’s population – from people immigrating! You know that Statue Of Liberty thingy? Yeah, on Ellis Island in New York. It was like a beacon calling in immigrants. Now it’s regarded as an object to say that we’re required to take anyone in, no matter how they got here. Do you think that you are somehow better than everyone else, and that you deserve special treatment?

On occasion, illegals are caught and sent back home. Where is the big screaming fuss over that? Why all people getting all pissed off now? Just because they are now being noticed nationwide? OK, fine with me. Get pissed off. Stop working (for money). Stop going to school (for free). Actually, why don’t you stop getting medical treatment for free too. It’s not like you can stop paying taxes (‘you’ meaning most, not all). Stop getting a free ride in my country, and GO THE FUCK AWAY. Pardon my language… No, wait – don’t. I’m pissed. I’m pissed off at the employers that hire illegals. I’m pissed at the government’s lack of effort to keep them out. I’m pissed of that the very same people that are getting a free ride at my expense are now upset for getting caught.

I’m sure there are nice ways we can work out this silly little immigration problem. First and foremost, put in measures to keep more illegal people out. Yes, put up a fence, put up more guards, patrol the border, and require people that don’t have a valid visa to get out. Follow the rules or go away. Next, for the people that are already here, make them pay a fine – they’ve been leeching off our society for too long, make them pay some back. Have steps for them to become citizens, if they so desire. If they don’t really want to be Americans, then they can GO AWAY. You know those jobs they have? The business that pays them needs to get hit hard! For every illegal (undocumented, whatever) employee, they must pay a fine that would equal all the taxes they didn’t pay. They must pay the costs of the investigations that happen. They must pay the cost to deport every one of them – even if they aren’t deported, it’s the principle. They must also be cited for breaking the law, and a standardized penalty paid – let’s say a fine of $5000 per illegal worker. No breaks given. If it kills the company, that’s just too bad, they shouldn’t have broken the law in the first place. These businesses (that survive) should be checked on periodically as well – they did it before, they will probably do it again.

Believe it or not, I don’t have a problem with any race. I don’t care if these illegal immigrants are from Mexico, Cuba, Australia, Nepal or freaking Antarctica. I don’t care if their skin is green, pink, brown, mocha, vanilla, yellow, tan, or plaid. What I do care about, and what does piss me off, is how some people think they are entitled to more than their fare share, or that think society owes them something just for being alive. It doesn’t matter what the race is.

Because most of this post is directed at people of the Latino persuasion, don’t think I don’t like them. I have many friends that are Mexican and Cuban (no, not “token” friends either). Guess what – they are here legally! If you come to this country, come in the right way or get kicked out. Don’t expect handouts – if you want something, you have to work for it. Don’t be a drain on my society, I don’t want to support you. If you come here illegally, you need to be kicked out.

Maybe I should be a little more sympathetic. They are just fighting for more rights, right? Don’t they have the right to punish us for trying to make them follow the rules? Pshaw, silly us… It’s not like they can go back home, right? Right? Oh, never mind…

I wll hold everybody accountable, for the negligence of not enforcing our laws. That includes businesses who hire and continuing to hire people without proper social security nunbers. taxes cannot be paid, therefore the IRS had known about this crimanal act. I will give amnesty to American businesses, social security administration, IRS, State, and local government entities.
Do the right thing, or else you’ll be out of a job like my biological son since out of high school.” Enforce our laws!”

Absolutely, Navy vet. If a business *knowingly* hires illegals, they should pay for it.

If we, as citizens, don’t do anything about the issue then we shouldn’t have the right to complain…

Wow, that section of comments is just the best of the best of our American ignorance. I am the child of immigrants. From what my mom and dad told me, there was no program to bring them here from Italy. They saved up, bought a ticket on a ship, and came to NYC.

When they arrived they went through customs, and had to find work within x amount of days or something.

How is that differant than some guy walking across a field on our southern border?
Italians, Irish, Germans, Poles…they got on boats, and built this country. I bet my Grandparents were illegal when they showed up in the 20s, before returning to Italy.

Instead of veiling our racism in the title of immigration, why do we not hold our elected officals and our border patrol accountable for doing there job and securing our border.

I think that both sides are playing right into the politicians hands with this…

another example bordering on the absurd, I was in Prague for a while. Fell in love with a dog. Adopted the dog, and wanted to bring him home to Wisconsin. Filed out all the paperwork. The little guy waited in quarentine for like 6 months. Nice people the animal services people by the way.

But what about all the dogs that sneak over the border?

I just think until we close the damn thing we cannot blame people for walking over, or climbing a fence. No more than we can blame a coyote for coming here to eat a chicken.

Ignorance? No, I don’t think so. Not only do we have to right to be outraged and complain and take action about this problem – we have a duty to do so in order to preserve what little we have left of our nation’s integrity.

I can’t think of anyone who magically appeared in the US with no trace of lineage. *Everyone* here is the descendant of an immagrant. Everyone.

Yes, there have been times in the US where there were no paper-pushing, red tape, legal ropes to go through in order to live here legally. There is now a legal process to follow. People used to just show up, and they were welcomed – that has changed. I don’t recall, however, that people coming to the US at those times demanded that our schools teach their home country’s language, they didn’t demand free medical care, and they did learn our language and customs. They didn’t demand that their new government provide everything in thier language like they did in English.

No, it’s not a case of racism, it’s a case of anger over following the rules and entering illegally. If you want to compare people to dogs, then maybe we should quarentine people before allowing them over the border. If no one in the US wants to “adopt” them and they stay in quarentine for a long time, then maybe they should be put to death. OK? No, didn’t think so. With few exceptions, people aren’t dogs…

No one enforces the rules. These people do not life here, they do not know the rules. Why should they follow them?

And as far as history and schools, well the government that makes it possible to come here, makes it impossible for a group to form a school. For example if an Irish group of parents wanted to hire a teacher and have them teach there kids, they would be stopped by the government.

Your government cries foul when people show up, yet they do not allow self directed action.

I say yes, build a border and quarentine the people who show up, I say put the money where the mouth is. I say do what you say your going to do, not just blame mexicans

By definition, immigrants don’t already live here, so they probably couldn’t know every detail of every law. However – the illegals know it’s wrong – that’s why they sneak across the border. I don’t see too many people trying to seek citizenship after coming in illegally…

To use your example, it IS allowed by the government to have a private teacher hired. If someone doesn’t like the state-run schools, there are a number of private schools which cater to specific views and beliefs. There are also home-schools. There needs to be schooling, but there are many options to get that education.

Keeping traditions, remembering history, and knowing “where you came from” is very important – but moving to a new country with a different language and a different way of life needs to be addressed. If you’re going to be a citizen, you should know the language, the history, and the traditions. It’s OK for every other country, but not the US?

Yes, our government needs to do a much better job keeping out illegals – but the politicians are more concerned with keeping their jobs, keeping some people happy, and talking nice. They would prefer not to have to do real work… They might actually get somewhere, but it will take many years for that to happen.

And no, I’m not blaming Mexicans – they are getting the most attention because of percentages. People are coming in from many countries with various methods.

So how did we address it back in the beginning…oh yeah we killed the indians.

Focusing on the people and not the problem is what the government wants you to do. That way they do not have to answer to you for you anger. They keep you pointing at this brown person or that brown person, when the fact is what you are upset about is lack of border security.

Right? To fix this problem, the first thing we must do is stop the leak. To fix a rotting pipe, you must fix the leak, then go about finding all the rotten parts and removing them.

Is the first action item, seal the border? Can we agree on that? Nothing is possible until that happens?

    that’s a great idea freemedia23.
I’ll set up a special website naming businesses who are hiring illegals without giving taxpaying Americans first choice for that job position[you might see something shocking here, there’s been a pattern here, because these businesses continue hiring illegals wihout giving Americans first choice] that means private businesses, self employed businesses. I will notify ICE detailing names, which apartment dwellings they’re staying in what places they’re working[private or self employed businesses. You call me ignorant, maybe these facts will enlighten you.I’ll back my statements with evidence if that’s what you disire. Dear Navy Veteran,

What I desire is this…a stop to the demonizing the people who come looking for a chance no matter how they get here…and a discussion first and foremost on how to STOP THE PROBLEM.

    1. Stop them coming. Close the board, enforce the boarder laws.
    2. Enforce the laws pertaining to the hiring of illegal aliens.
    3. Create a plan to handle the people here. Either find a way to make them citizens, or send them back, or maybe put them in the army. Who knows. I am not a planner.

The issue for me is not the mexicans here, the things they do here, but rather a system that allows them to come. That encourages business to hire and in a lot of ways exploit these people.

We are americans complain that our jobs are going to india, or whatever…but in fact the jobs at home are being given to illegal aliens by our corporations.

Should we fault them for taking a job? Sure, in many ways we can.

But should we fauly Wal Mart MORE for hiring them…I think so.

But what I am saying stabs at the heart of the red stakes faux conservatism.

I do think it ignorant to demonize the Mexican who crosses the boarder looking for a better life. Jesus, they come here for a better life. They do it illegally, because they can. At the end of the day it is a human being looking for a better life. But lets focus on calling them illegal immigrants, calling them names, and not holding our government and corporations accountable.

    Thats ignorant.

Their future is pretty bleak. Last two years and half I gave him financial support. Did not mind, he’s my son. But what if I died tommorrow. What’s happens now. As an American, do I sit idly and take it from gut, or do I say enough is enough, and try to wake up this governmet and say my son has a right to live as well.

I am sorry Navy Vet. America is changing so much right now, it is such a vastly differant place than when I was in high school. I am only 35.

What you do is to tell your sons gf to not have a child until they are financially secure enough to raise that. You tell your son that any job is better than no job.

Any income is better than no income.

Your not talking about immigration man, your talking about economy. About labor issues, about class issues.

Well, this does kind of apply to the ‘immigration’ theme of this post. Maybe.

Part of the reason US citizens are upset about illegal immigrants is because they are taking a number of jobs – jobs that could be held by US citizens. They may be less ‘glamourous’ jobs, at low(er) wages, but they are still jobs. Many immigrants, both legal and illegal, are sending much of their income to their families outside the country. This does take care of their families, but it is also a drain on our economy. The money needed to pay them is taken out of the local markets, but instead of that money coming back into the community in the form of local purchases, it’s being sent away. More money spent (paid) than is coming in is helping hurt the maket, and in a small way, preventing more jobs from becoming available.

Navy Vet, a number of facets of the current job market are disturbing – but one of the few ways to get ahead is by working hard and applying yourself. I think it’s too bad that you have to help provide support for your son – sometimes it is necessary for the young to stick around the nest longer than others. Maybe a start in the Navy would help out – it does offer good training. There is always good job security too. Sometimes moving on is hard to do, but you do what you have to, right?

That is insane. Your saying that they are to blame for taking a job, a job that could be done by an american. that is like blaming the vistim of the crime…and NO there not victims.

But to blame someone for taking a job…that seems insane.

I do not know the exact number, but I am sure there are companies hiring everywhere.

Why the insistance on blaming someone for working, or sending money to a family…what is that? I live in Wisconsin, and I think a ton of alien workers pick cranberries…there is no way I want to do that crap…but they do.

I simply do not understand…this guys kid needs a job, and were going to blame his not having a job on mexicans? Wow.

I am blaming NOTHING on Mexicans. I’m saying it’s some ‘Illegal Immigrants’ that are to blame. Not all of them, just some. Yes, they are taking jobs that could be filled by US citizens. Yes, I’m blaming them for having jobs – they should not be here. I’m blaming the employers that hire them too.

This specific kid is just out of school and wants a job. OK, no prob. No training, no experience, no degrees – the job market looks kind of weak. There is the militiary (kind of hard to get illegals there), and there are usually a jobs available in the local market. However, it can still be hard to find a job at, or just over, minimum wage. If he’s in an area with a substantial illegal immigrant population, they have most likely saturated the market, and many times will work for less than the minimum wage. It’s easier for the employer, as well as cheaper overall. That makes them less likely to hire the expensive (legal) Americans. No, this isn’t the norm…

Yes, some of the jobs (agricultural, janitorial, general labor, factories, etc) are taken quickly by immigrants, but they could easily be done by US citizens. No, I wouldn’t want to do it either. I wouldn’t be crazy about picking lettuce or cleaning toilets – but I already have a job that pays my bills. In general, these jobs are frowned on by spoiled Americans – they don’t want to work a physically demanding job that has low pay. But guess what – IT PAYS. What makes you think that illegals WANT to do that type of work? They’re human too – but they don’t have the spoiled American attitude that says they shouldn’t get their fingernails dirty. They need a job, they need the money, and they’re getting it by working. I would like to think that if I was no longer needed in my job that I would take whataver job I needed to in order to support my family – if it included picking cranberries, so be it…

This my friend is what talking about, when my parents who were russian in the 1950’s came and went through the naturalization system in U.S. of America did what a immagrant should do to become a part of this great nation. To this day you should follow the same course, somehow people think there should be exceptions. If we change the Laws to suit our individual needs the government will be corrupted, think again what I’m saying. I’m not only doing it for my son. I’m also supporting every son and daughter who experience not to able to get in the work force right out of high school.. Steven Sohriakoff, I’ll have many enemies starting sept. 5. I’ll show names of businesses who harbor and hire[there’s a continuing pattern] people without proper ssn’s . They are only not illegal to work here without a prper working permit, they drive to work without the proper car insurance .Lot of the apartment complexes are breaking the laws also[I’ll have a heyday on this tambien[also] I’ll list a hundrend infractions at a time every twelve hrs.

Look at me .and listen for a change. We’re talking about something that is uncharted waters. I’m not here to bully any human on this matter. It’s unforturnately it came to this conclusion. I can continuseiy make sacrifices and adapt, but when you have a constant denial of perception of what reality.is It boogles my mind. The Reason I know that immagrants(illegal or not illegal) are used as pawns I carefully tracked the unemployent in America in the past ten years. I know the past six years there was 1.3 million Ameicans standing in the unemployment offfice lookinng for work or trying to get an unemploymet check. There’s fifty million closet case undocumented residents who are breathing and living in North America that has at least on full time job and working 20 to 30 hrs overtime without any state and federal taxes taken out withiin the 70 hour week period. Employers hire people knowing their names and ssn’s don’t conicide what the social security adminstration tells them all along. Employers played stupid to put even more money in their pockets. I’m going to work with Ithe I.R.S. and I.C.E. to get back all the money that is owed to them in back taxes. Just think, 50 million working under the radar and no taxes is paid out fo the I.R.S. How corrupted can that be? One thing for sure, people don’t like to hear the dirty secret that’s about to surface. Yes people came to work, laws was broken, American lives end up going bust. It’s not just the people that will be / have been singled out, it’s also the businesses that do the hiring and book-cooking. It’s the employers that must also have their share of the spotlight. It’s one thing for a big company that gets shown using child labor in 3rd-world contries – it’s another thing completely when someone local is shown to be hurting the native workforce…

Very true… We, as Americans, have a lifestyle that we are accustomed to, and immigrants (legal or illegal) also have their own lifestyle. The problem comes in when the people coming in try to force their customs on us instead of conforming to the ways of their new location.

Immagrants – if you insist on holding on to your old contry’s customs, traditions, and ideals, then do so only in your home, or go back to your old country. Stop trying to force me and my country to turn into your old country.

I don’t see this as much from LEGAL immigrants, since they want the US as they see it. Illegals think they have the right to barge in to my country, demand rights just for being here, require that they get special treatment, and try to force the legal residents to start to act like people from their legal country of residence. GO AWAY! We don’t want to be living in your old country – if we did, we would go there. Don’t bring it here, I like my country the way it was before you started invading it.

“It’s one thing for a big company that gets shown using child labor in 3rd-world contries – it’s another thing completely when someone local is shown to be hurting the native workforce…”

How could you possibly believe that? Our own corporations are abusing the unalienable human rights of children in foreign nations, contradicting the very foundations on which our nation’s constitution was built upon. Don’t you see the hypocracy there? We respect the rights of children in our country because we have laws for it, but in foreign countries, if they have no laws (or no means to enforce them) than those rights are forgotten.

How could you possibly believe that corporations offering jobs to immigrants seeking a better life in our own country is WORSE than virtually enslaving children overseas, for a few pennies a day?!

Granted, wage-slavery very much exists in the US, but large corporations will not risk violating established, enforced laws at home. The perpetrators here are small businesses that abuse immigrants. Now, don’t crack down on businesses offering immigrants – illegal or not – a better means of supporting their families. Crack down on the businesses that lure immigrants in and reduce them to nothing, working for pennies a day, sometimes beaten, being threatened they will be reported and deported if they protest their wages. Crack down on slavery at home and abroad.

We don’t need to enforce stronger immigration laws that protect Americans who never bothered to pursue a higher education. We need to enforce stronger immigration laws that protect the immigrants from the unscrupulous businesses that abuse them. What we need to do as Americans is open our eyes to the other 90-some percent of the world that views our society with envy, and have some compassion for their needs. We are not, nor do we deserve to be, the only significant culture in the world.

Do we need stronger immigration laws? Probably not. Do we need laws to protect people (legal or not) against unscrupulous business practices? YES.

I’m not trying to equate child labor in another country to hiring illegal aliens at home; both are bad, but it’s a worse political blow to the company to have the media show a 5-year old making it’s products than it is to have a few people that are just lacking a visa.

Yes, we most certainly DO need to crack down on small businesses that hire illegals. Just because it’s a small company does not give it the right to break whatever law they choose! The excuse that employing an illegal alien is giving them a means of supporting their family is NOT an excuse. The illegal aliens broke the law coming here, they are breaking the law by staying here, and the businesses are breaking the law by employing them. Just because they get warm fuzzies about helping humanity does not excuse them from getting in trouble. These small businesses of yours can get the same warm fuzzies by helping out the LEGAL residents of our country that are in financial distress by giving them jobs instead. The LEGAL way.

Ah, i see what you were saying now – the company’s publicity is damaged muched more significantly after being caught offering jobs to illegals that when it is caught exploiting children overseas.

Hehe, i guess that rant was uncalled for then.

But isn’t it sad that THAT is what it takes to make Americans angry a big business. It could be committing all kinds of atroceties overseas, even outsourcing jobs, but we don’t have nearly the same level of outcry until they offer work to illegal immigrants.

I’m sorry if I was unclear before. I tend to ramble on and lose track of my train of thought sometimes… =)

It is pathetic, it is petty, and it is selfish when the image of a company is based on getting caught doing something wrong.

Most people think it’s OK to be mad at a company “in principle” for abusing unseen children in an unseen country in an unseen method. That, and it’s only on the news a short time, and people’s memories are short. It’s basically someone else’s problem.

However, when people see a company employing illegals in their own hometown, it sticks with them longer when they see it every day. Oh yeah – and it makes a bigger effect – this is a seen issue, it affects them every day, and it’s their problem.

It looks to me like some people here may be racist, but others (like me) are fed up with people from other countries that are here illegally. Hence the title for this post. I’m upset with illegal immigrants, not the (huge) number of people of other nationalities who live and work here legally.

I don’t want immigrants to do anything but follow the same rules everyone else has to. I don’t want them to die any more than anyone else in the world. If you go back far enough in the family tree, NOBODY in the US is a non-immigrant. We are just here legally.

So if I decided to sneak into the Dominican Republic, would I be allowed the same rights and freedoms that illegal immigrants in the US get? Can I demand free (or almost free) housing for me and my family? Free school for my children? Free medical care for everyone? A driver’s license? The ability to work – and my paycheck be tax-free? Think about it……

you said your immigrant ancestors came here “legally”, why don’t you ask the Native American Indians and see if they think the aggressive European immigration was considered “legal” for them, their land and their nation’s law.

besides, Mexicans are native of America, unlike you whose ancestors came from Europe, they are Americans and their ancestors have been here for thousands of years, not only 200 years, you white European caucasian, if you don’t like Americans, (Mexicans, native indians or whatever you want to call them) go back to Europe where you belong. Your race is white, white isn’t from this CONTINENT called AMERICA.

Settlers from Europe battled with the existing inhabitants of what is now the USA, and as the winners of the war took the land as their own. This is how peoples have taken new homes for eons. So you’re saying that the people we now call Mexicans and Indians were all born to this current continent? Those two races have never lived anywhere else geographically? Really…. No one truly knows how long homosapiens have existed on this planet, nor where each race began. I think it’s safe to say that the Mexicans and the Indians each took the land of the current USA from someone else also.

And who is to say when my ancestors arrived in the US? Maybe it was in the 1960’s, or maybe it was in the 1460’s. Does it matter? The rules in place at the time were followed. Yes, I did check. I don’t give a rip who is “native” to the country. The USA belongs to it’s citizens. Legal ones.

MY ITALIAN/SICILIAN GRANDPARENTS CAME TO THE UNITED STATES ********BECAUSE THEY WERE LOOKING FOR W-O-R-K*******. THERE WAS NO WELFARE BACK THEN, NOR WAS THERE FOOD STAMPS; FREE HEALTHCARE, FREE RENT, CLOTHING ALLOWANCES. THEY ATE SOUP FOR TEN FRIGGIN’ YEARS AND WORE THE SAME CLOTHES, NOT LAKERS’ GAME JERSEYS AND $200 NIKEs. EVERYONE KNOWS WHY YOU COME HERE: TO SUCK-OFF OF THE U.S. TAXPAYERS TIT. SCUMBAGS. WE’RE TIRED OF FINANCING YOUR LAZINESS. YOU CLEVERLY AVOID ALL FORMS OF PHYSICAL LABOR. STAY WHERE YOU ARE. WE DON’T MIGRATE TO YOUR COUNTRY AND EXPECT FREE SHIT. WE DON’T FLY TO SAUDI ARABIA AND ATTEMPT TO BUILD CHRISTIAN CHURCHES. DON’T COME HERE AND BUILD MOSQUES AFTER YOU’VE KILLED 3,000 OF OUR FELLOW AMERICANS, THOSE WHO HAD TO CHOOSE BETWEEN LEAPING TO THEIR DEATHS OR BEING INCINERATED ALIVE. MOST CHOSE TO LEAP TO THEIR DEATHS. PAY FOR YOUR OWN CHILDREN. IF YOU WANT A FAMILY, GET A YOB… DON’T THREATEN AMERICANS, MANY OF US ARE NOT THE ROLL-OVER & PLAY DEAD TYPES…

Funny thing is half your restraunts, builders, plumbers, carpenters, etc. are illegal. Reason why most Americans are in fact lazy y’all should take appreciation that most illegal immigrants do all the work cause I know damn well a white person won’t do it. We’re helping your country grow so except it.

blame it all on US governement for spoiling the mex in this country and screwing us US people (and vets that died and fought for this country are being screwed by US Gov. too). We are doomed, and not even a new pres. can stop things now. Thank Bush, and beyond…they (the mex) will take over and bye bye US people for good. That’s the way the US gov has planned it.
